Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Here are symptoms my wife is experiencing: Nummness in her left foot, which cause her to lose balance when she walks. She then locks her Knee and this causes her to walk stiff legged. She also seems to talk slower and she gets really tired. She lost her job last year at this time and is now retired. I think she has some issues with depression. She is going to accupuncture and chropratic for her foot, knee and loss of balance but she is not getting any better. She also has problems sleeping
Numbness in foot is commonly caused by nerve damage(infection of the nerve, pinched nerve or compression of a nerve. The early symptoms of nerve damage is tingling & burning, later it triggers loss of balance. Cause can be chronic alcohol abuse, diabetic neuropathy, Lyme disease, peripheral arterial disease, sciatica, shingles, spinal cord injury, etc. You are suggested to visit a Neurologist, get blood & imaging tests done. Your treatment will depend on the severity of the pathology detected. Stay well hydrated, take home made nutritious food rich in vitamin B1, B16 & minerals. take adequate sleep.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
