Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I got into a moderately severe car accident and hit my leg/side of my knee pretty bad. Nothing feels broken and I can walk fine I just have what I believe is a hematoma. The thing that is concerning me at this point is my skin in that area has lost any feeling. I can feel deep underneath it but not on the surface of the area. Is it possible to get hit so badly in the area that it damages the nerves? Will the feeling come back? I see my doctor this week but I am just curious about it.
Hi, i do care for your concern. Following an trauma, there might be local tissue injury, and as to feel decreased sensation in that particular region. The hematoma(blood clot) usually occur following blunt trauma, as this may also lead to anesthetized patches. After medications, and with time the condition would eventually get off. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
