What Causes Numbness In Left Thigh, Fingers, Hand And Arm?

I started with numbness on my left thigh, about 4 yrs ago, has moved to left fingers then hand and arm to my left side of face last year. It continues to be numb. I have had MIR of the brain and back. Neurologists ruled out MS but no further comments.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Numbness is one of the symptoms of peripheral neuropathy which refers to abnormal sensation of the peripheral nerves (nerves outside the brain and spinal cord).

Though MS is a cause, there are other causes as well such as: diabetes, vitamin b12 or folate deficiency, trauma, liver disease, kidney disease, infection, exposure to toxins

Blood tests to rule out diabetes, screen for vitamin b12 and folate levels, check for liver/kidney function- should be done to determine if any of these is responsible

In some cases, a cause cannot be found.

I hope this helps
