What Causes Numbness In Legs After Suffering A Concussion?

Hi, I was rammed into in a game of basketball a couple of months ago, i got concussion from it but since then i lose feeling in my legs really quickly when i sit down and run or even when im just walking and sometimes they start to hurt a lot for no apparent reason, its a weird feeling, like pins and needles but it really hurts. I m not sure if it a coincidence about the basketball incident but i was hoping you had some idea about it. Thanks!

Hi,

If the symptom is severe then it is significant to rule out any old concussion related features. But you need to take adequate bed rest.

If you feel lot of discomfort then you may require a repeat scan and review with a neurosurgeon.

Secondly, other possiblity could be to rule out diabetes.

Please get these lab investigations done before consulting a neurosurgeon:

1) CBP
2) Serum calcium
2) Serum electrolytes
3) FBS & PLBS
4) Hba1C

You will be alright soon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Abdullah
