What Causes Numbness In Pelvic After Lower Back Injury?

I recently took a hard fall (2 days ago), and landed on my lower back/coccyx...The pain is tolerable, and I have been taking ibuprofen, and icing, however I have numbness in the lower half of the vaginal/bottom area. Do I need to see a physician or should I wait to see if the numbness subsides?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query.
Numbness suggests nerve injury . It could recover on its own but I recommend seeing your physician to rule out a fracture and possible instability of the bones in that area.
You may asked for X-ray or more detailed scans like and MRI, depending on the results of your physical exam.
In most cases, rest and avoiding pressure on the coccyx(for instance using a coccyx pillow) along with anti inflammatory medications will help.
hope I've helped.
please get back to us if you need further clarification.
wish you good health
