What Causes Numbness In Right Leg While On Acyclovir And Tramadol For Shingles?
My husband has had shingles in right leg, calf and above. has been on acyclovir for 3 weeks, then amitrityline hcl and tramadol hcl. He now has weakness and numbness in right leg. It gives out from under him and he uses a walker for support. Can this get worse or does he need more or different medication?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have constant flank pain . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like neuropathy , diabetes , nerve compression or injury . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to side effects of drug tramadol . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe substitute . If the condition still persist then consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically , order x-ray or CT scan to confirm the diagnosis and treat it accordingly . For now take proper rest and put your leg in hot water tub with one spoon of salt for 15 minutes daily .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
