General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi and Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor ' Service . I have read your question and here is my advice .
Numbness of the arm may indicate the neuropathy i.e, little problem in the nerve which is not uncommon with vasculitis

Vasculitis is not very serious but are of some concern , specially if it has involves the heart ( means the large vessel ). Vasculitis do respond very well to treatment( mostly with the help of immunosupressent and steroids ) which may be for a long time. It is hard to say about the surgery.

I would be happy to answer if you have any thing else to ask in this regards.
I find this answer helpful
