What Causes Numbness In The Arm And Neck Post A Fusion Discectomy?
I had a bad pinched nerve problem starting in 2014 and tried everything and nothing helped so I finally got the c-6 and c-7. Fushion diskectomy with instrumentation on August 18th this year. My shoulder and arm an neck still hurt and get numb on my left side. Even my right side gets numb just holding the steering wheel. About a month ago my left shoulder starting killing me and it hurts all the x so I mentioned it to dr. Who did surgery and he said it was ok to go to a rotercuff dr. (Can t think of title at moment). I did go to a router cuff dr. In May this year and he took an X-ray and said it was just an impingement and gave me a steroid shot. it has gotten worse and I don t think it has anything to do with my pinched nerve. I set up an appt. to go to a different rotor cuff dr. But he won t see me till 4months after the surgery so that means I can t go to him till December the 19th. I am going to my regular. Doctor and getting a physical tomorrow and was gonna ask if I could get an MRI of my left shoulder. I just want to know what s wrong. The pain is too bad. I have met my out of pocket max anyway because of surgery so everything is gonna be free for me till end of year. Do u think it is smart of me to ask for MRI of shoulder so I can take it with me to appt.
Sorry to hear of your pain. Yes MRI may be a good choice. In fact, the pain in the shoulder may be related to the pinched nerve or problems of the shoulder itself. Many times it clear with history and examination, however, if there is any ambiguity, MRI may be a smart option to be sure as of where the problems lie. However, may not be needed if things are clear. So you can discuss with your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
