What Causes Numbness In The Big Toe?

I started getting a numbness in my left big toe. I put ice on it last night and it felt good this morning. Now I look at it and it looks swollen around the ball of my foot and the tendon under the big toe hurts a little. Is it serious because I am a runner.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It can be due to minor contusion or a thin hair line fracture.

As of now, you can take analgesics/anti inflammatory combination like Diclofenac/Serratiopeptidase combination for symptomatic relief. Apply ice packs and take bed rest for couple of days.

If symptoms persist it is better to consult an orthopedic and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
