Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing numbness in my feet and hands for years, however as of the last month I am experiencing severe burning in my feet and hands. Now I am having numbness in my cheek and chin. I do have problems in my lower back and see a chiropractor regular with no relief. I do occasionally have Sciatic pain in my but cheeks when I walk. My blood sugar is around 89. I am worried because both hands feet and face are affected. The pain in my feet radiates to above my knees. I am a 50 yr old semi fit man.
These symptoms are very typical for peripheral neuropathy. There are many causes of peripheral neuropathy like diabetes, drugs, alcohol, blood disorders, nutritional deficiency and many others. Many people have this for without any reasons. So we need to see for the causes and if no cause founds, certain drugs like gabapentin etc can be used.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
General & Family Physician
