What Causes Numbness In The Fingers After Taking Plavix?

I have been taking plavix for years. My dr did blood work - some kind of genetic testing to see what drugs I cannot take - the results showed I cannot take plavix. When I stopped taking the drug, I lost feelings in my fingers. My dr. said it will return - its a reaction of the plavix make sense? Well, sorry - I have no money. I will just trust my dr that the feeling in my fingers will return. Thanks anyways.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The most likely reason may be local pressure on the nerve which may cause temporary numbness. However, if it is more often and bothering your daily routine and if associated radiating pain along the upper limb then it needs to be investigated.

I would suggest consulting physician and you may need to get cervical spine X-ray. Cervical spondylosis with compression on the nerve due to disc prolapse can cause a similar problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
