Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was helping my sister with some gluing on crafts. the next day my thumb and forefinger became numb, the next day my hand started going numb just at the wrist, the following day my lower arm became numb along the brachial nerve , and today I am having more numbness in the front of my upper arm. It seems to be following the brachial nerve path up to the shoulder. When I try to use my right arm I get a sharp stabbing pain in my chest and shoulder. I have had no recent falls, no running into things, or lifting heavy object that would have sprained anything. I do have a history of Carpal Tunnel in both hands and hand surgery over 20 yrs ago. but nothing since then to cause thing sudden numbness. What could be causing this and should I see a dr.?
3) Discuss with your physiotherapist for a specific exercise plan as per MRI scanning report.
4) To prevent it, try to maintain a good posture and proper use of the elbow and arms, such as wearing an arm splint while sleeping to maintain the arm is in a straight position instead of keeping the elbow tightly bent.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
