What Causes Numbness In The Hand And Severe Joint Pain?

Hi I m trying to figure our if the pain in my thumb joints are the beginnings of arthritis. I am 50 yrs old and have had numbness in my hands for many years sometimes worse than others at times I would have pain so bad that it brought me to tears. That hasn t happened in a long time though. Also I have gained weight so I m sure that is a contributing factor.
