What Causes Numbness In The Hands, Tunnel Vision, Cold Sweats And Headache?
Hello. My 27 year old son who is tall with a very fine body build, has been over the last few years having episodes where he gets tunnel vision, cold sweats, numbness in his arms and hands, slight headaches. We realized that these attacks came on after eating foods that contain MSG. He also had a fairly prolonged episode after going into the ocean, and before his band had a performance. 12 months ago he had a very stressful close encounter with death through no fault of his, and since has had a few episodes of the above. Could this be a low blood pressure, and, or, a stress related thing.
You may also have nerve compression problems which were suspected in your prior consultations which must have aggravated.
However, at what level it varies and needs clinical evaluation, with nerve conduction studies with or without MRI.
It is very common to get such types of numbness and pain in stress and in a deep anxiety state.
However, to be on the safe side, you should consult a doctor and get your cardiac status checked along with other relevant investigations for the causes as mentioned above.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
