Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello - My 14 year old daughter is complaining that her hips go to sleep when she sleeps on her side. It s been going on for several months. She s an athlete and very fit and thin. Could it be her mattress or something serious that we should be concerned about?
In a thin person, the fat under the skin (the fat pad) is very thin and cannot serve as a cushion to protect the nerves that lie underneath. I would definitely try to have you teenager sleep on a softer, cushier mattress and see if it happens again. Most probably this will resolve the problem. Best of luck
