What Causes Numbness In The Index Finger After A Upper Back Muscle Pull?

I pulled a muscle in my upper back (scapular region) with pain radiating down my left arm to my elbow into the bursa sac. I was massaged and manipulated and given a muscle relaxer and an anti-inflammatory without any relief. A few days later, the tip of my index finger is numb. Could this be nerve involvement?
