Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness In The Left Side Of The Face?
I woke up this morning with my left ear and face tissue around it completely numb. No pain, no asymmetries, no other symptoms. I thought it was the pillow but I am surprised the numbness has persisted this long. I have no indications of stroke. I have no high blood pressure. I do not know what it could be. Do you?
As per your query you have symptoms of numbness in the left side of the face which seems to be due to Bell's palsy which is a condition that causes temporary weakness or paralysis of the muscles in one side of the face and it could be due to facial nerve dysfunctioning.
I would suggest you to consult neurologist/ oral and maxillofacial surgeon for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like trigeminal neuropathy. Doctor may conduct various test to confirm the diagnosis and may prescribe muscle relaxant and anti inflammatory medications. Till now start doing exercises of facial muscles and go for massage or light muscle exercise. Avoid exposure to allergen.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
