Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello! I have been having some issues with kind of a numbness/ sensation in my legs and arms for about a month now. The tip of my tongue, roof of my mouth and top lip have been tingly for about a week. I have been told it is anxiety. I have had an MRI, nerve testing and muscle testing done, all came back normal. I am afraid that I have MS. I have been put on lexapro ( 2 weeks now) at 10 MG (5 mg for 1 1/2 weeks and 10 mg for about 1 week) and xanax ( which I take when needed). My MRI was only of my brain. What do you think is going on?
Neurologic conditions can be traced by the pattern of symptoms. Arms and legs are one set of nerves but the head/face/mouth are quite a different set. These only overlap in the brain.
Multiple lesions like brain infection in theory can hit many areas, but if it basically hits all over then the person wouldn't be able to function. Nerve sicknesses like from alcohol or heavy metal poisoning would not hit all the areas but just the most susceptible.
Anxiety can hit a lot of areas. I cannot comment on your particular situation without directly examining you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
