What Causes Numbness In The Palms After Receiving A Meningitis Vaccination Shot?

I had a vaccine for meningitis and scepticimia at mid day yesterday. It was in my upper left arm and consisted of one shot. The site of the injection is a little sore, however, the bottom of the palm of my hand is really numb. I can feel things, but its tingly and can extend up to my elbow. Its been 12 hours and I want to know what has caused this. I take birth control and have no known allergies. I m also a 16 year old female.

Hello,

After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that numbness after intramuscular injection can be normal for some time but if it persists then it can be due to neural injury.

It’s recommended for you to take nerve booster if it doesn’t help then kindly consult a physician personally for further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap,
