What Causes Numbness In The Right Leg?

I bend over to put food in my dogs bowl, and my right leg goes numb..feel jelly legged...and quivering...It doesn t hurt, but I had to grab on to something or I would have fallen over..It lasts about 5 minutes.....Any idea what s going on....? It s happened 3 times now....You re probably gonna say to just not bend over to feed your dogs...really scared me the first time it happened...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I understand your concern.

The leg gets numbed if you bend over your knee for a quite long time enough to cause nerve compression.

This explains what happened with numbness and it took 5 minutes to get the nerve back to normal again.

No worries, just do not prolongate your bending over your knee. Or find another position to feed your dog not bending and see the changes.

If numbness will feel every day or any time regardless of the position, should see neurologist.

All the best.
