Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness In The Shoulder, Upper Arm And Pectoral Muscle?
My shoulder, upper arm and pectoral muscle on the left went completely numb suddenly and lasted for about 45 seconds. I ve had a stiff neck and more recently, stiff muscles all over, probably from a long car trip. I m assuming these are related, but the numbness was a new and stunning development. Could it be a pinched nerve? (I popped my neck right before it stopped) Or is it more likely a symptom of something else?
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. I can understand your concern. By your history and description, possibility of pinched nerve due to prolonged sitting is more likely. But since it is left sided (arm, shoulder and chest) numbness, better to rule out cardiac cause first. So get done ecg, 2d echo and stress test. If all these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
