What Causes Numbness In The Tongue?

daughter had wisdom teeth out in December, now May. Tongue is still numb. Only recently got a little feeling back on one side. Still can't taste except back of tongue, hot and cold not recognized. Now has metallic taste on one side of mouth. Is this a sign that it could be finally healing?

So sorry to hear about your problem and will try my best to resolve it..

As per your complain numbness of tongue post wisdom tooth extraction is most probably due to damage to lingual nerve that supplies the tongue with sensations and as it lies in close proximity with roots of wisdom tooth and can get injured/damaged during extraction procedure..
Mild injuries get recovered in 2 to 3 weeks while as it is about 4 to 5 months you need to consult a Neurophysician or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and they can advise you an MRI scan for diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
