I had I left ear performation closed by surgery in April. it went on fine but after the surgery my tongue feels very different, kind of numb on the sides and when i eat something intital i feel so taste less and bitter...is this related to the surgery?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns.
As per your complain numbness of tongue and loss of sensation after ear surgery can be related as there can be damage to the lingual nerve that supplies the tongue and it can lead to numbness and loss of taste. The damage can cause transient or permanent loss of sensation depending upon the severity of injury.. In case if there is transient loss of sensation it will recover gradually but complete severing of nerve can lead to permanent loss of sensation.. I would suggest you to take Vitamin B complex supplements as it help in nerve regeneration and do alternate warm and cool compresses over tongue.. If you do not find improvement in one month consult a Neurophysician and get evaluated..
Hope this information helps..
