What Causes Numbness Near The Site Of Sutures On Head With Scalp Sensitivity?
Hi I recently had a head injury about 2 months ago after falling down the stairs. I ended up getting my head glued after it got cut open from a radiator at the bottom. About 2 inches above the cut My head was numb and is still numb now. It s extremely sensitive when I brush my hair which is a uncomfortable feeling. Also weirdly when I sneeze I feel a sharp pain in front of the left ear going up and down. Should I be concerned?
It is very normal to have a numb feeling on a damaged portion of skin esp if the wound has been big like in your case. This is because peripheral nerves which are extremely thin and skin/scalp is embedded with them are damaged. Over a period of time which may be very long, this feeling will go away or become less acute. Nothing to be concerned about.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shashi Dangwal, Pulmonologist
