What Causes Numbness On Lips And Jaw?

My 10 yr old son has a fluid filled blister on his lip ,he said it swelled up at school and split open he then said his lip felt numb and it moved down into his jaw and stayed that way for about an hour and then feeling came back .it's still there but smaller, what might that possibly be?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a sudden appearance of a fluid filled blister over the lip that has ruptured and led to numbing of the lip and jaw and resolved within an hour seems to be due to any bug bite leading to allergic reaction and infection in the area and the symptoms seems to be due to effect of the toxic chemical left under the skin by the organism from its sting..
Nothing to worry as it will resolve soon and it is a good sign that the symptoms have improved..
I would suggest you to apply an anti septic ointment over it after cleaning it will an antiseptic solution like betadine or can also clean it with hydrogen peroxide..
You can do cool compresses over it..
Give him a single dose of anti allergic like benadryl..
