Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness On Lips And Tongue With History Of Having Hip Replacement Surgery?
I had hip replacement surgery Jan 8, 2015. 2 days afterward, I was diagnosed with Afib. Surgery was on left hip. My right thigh, 4 fingers on my right hand, my right shoulder and my lips were numb. I was able to use them and taste. Now after massage therapy and pool exercise the numbnes has dissappated except for my lips which seems to be slowly spreading to my tongue. I take blood pressure medication and wondered if I am allergic to that or maybe a reaction to anathesia? I just turned 70.
After going through your medical query I understand your concern and I would like to tell you that brain strocks are very common atrial fibrillation. You should get done a MRI Brain to rule out any brain stroke which can be causing numbness.
Hopefully this information will guide you properly.
Kind Regards Dr Bhanu Partap
