What Causes Numbness On The Fingers While Using Metronidazole Cream?

I have used metronidazole cream on my face for rosacea for about a year. I have also been experiencing tingling and numbness in the fingers of both hands. I just saw that this is possibly a side effect from the cream so I have stopped using it. If this is a reaction to the cream, will be symptoms go away and how long might it take?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

That sensation that you describe as tingling and numbness is called peripheral neuropathy. You should stop medication immediately. It will get better but is not always completely reversible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
