What Causes Numbness On The Left Side Of The Hand?
Good afternoon. I woke up this morning with the left side, of my left hand , feeling slightly numb. I thought it was because of the way I slept. It is now 7 hours later and the side of hand is still numb....along with my pinky finger and ring finger. What could possibly be the problem ? I m nervous.
Hello and welcome to HCM, Numbness felt in the little finger and the adjacent ring finger is suggestive of compression of ulnar nerve. Ulnar nerve supplies the inner aspect of arm, little finger and ring finger. The nerve can be compressed while sleeping on that side. However, the numbness caused by compression usually clears after few hours. If the numbness still persists then you need to consult your orthopedician for clinical assessment and thus management.
