Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am experiencing numbness on my lips & tongue; I had pretty severe vertigo a week ago; since Monday it has lessened considerably, but the numbness is increasing. Have had high cholesterol for 20+ years, most recently brought down from 307 To 241 taking 160mg of fenofibrate. Cannot take statins. Is my heart at issue?
Numbness is usually related to abnormal function of the nerves, it is called neuropathy. It can be central (due to lesions in the brain or spinal cord) or peripheral (due to nerves outside of these areas).
With a recent history of severe vertigo, a central cause would need to be ruled out by examination and imaging such as CT.
It would be best to see your doctor for an assessment.
I hope this helps
