Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Numbness On The Roof Of The Mouth After Taking Flexoril?
I take Xanax sublingually every night. I just got a prescription for Flexoril and tonight I grabbed a oil out of my pill bottle thinking it was Xanax. It tasted different and then the roof of my mouth became numb. How long will that last? Will it hurt me? Should in not take the Xanax now?
Flexoril is a drug used to relax the muscles and that also blocks the sensation of the nerves so this is why you might be feeling the numbness in the roof of the mouth. It should not be dangerous and because it is a drug that is taken once a day, meaning its effect lasts at least 24 hours so i would expect it within a day or two you to feel much better with the numbness in the roof of your mouth. As for xanax it is not generally recommended to be used regularly for more then 2 weeks due to dependence that patients develop with regular use. Please talk to your doctor about this side effect and which is the best approach in your case.
I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
