What Causes Numbness On The Roof Of The Mouth While Suffering From Cold?
I have a bad cold or virus with a lot of congestion, particularly on the left side of my nose and head. I woke up yesterday with some numbness above several of my upper molars on the left side of the roof of my mouth. It is very localized. Is that possibly related to the amount of congestion I have?
Yes, numbness of the roof of the upper teeth and roof of mouth is commonly seen if you have bad cold with lot of congestion where congestion can be due to sinus infection or sinusitis.. Sinus infection can cause a lot of congestion and pain in upper teeth and palate and can also cause numbness.. No need to worry about it, the numbness will gradually get better as the congestion will subside.. If you have a lot of congestion, you should consult an Otorhinolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can do a sinus x ray for confirmation.. If sinus infection is confirmed you should take a course of antibiotics , anti inflammatory pain relievers along with decongestant nasal spray to relieve congestion. Do saline nasal irrigation and steam inhalation..
Hope you get well soon..
Thanks and regards.
