What Causes Numbness On The Tongue After Taking Nabumetone?

I have been taking 20 mg, 1 X per day of Celexa for several years. My orthopedic doctor prescribed 500 mg 2 X per day of nabumetone for inflammation. I took one dose last evening. A couple of hours after taking this morning s dose, I began experiencing some minor numbness of my tongue. Should I stop taking the nabumetone in favor of ibuprofen or some other anti imflamatory? My doctor will not be back in his office until Monday morning. I take no other medications.

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through the query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain numbness of tongue seems to be due to allergic reaction of Nabumetone that is an anti inflammatory painkiller..

But at times numbness of tongue can be a side effect of certain medications and Nabumetone is causing you the same..

If you cannot see your Physician, you can consult an Emergency room and get evaluated and they can advise you alternate anti-inflammatory medications like Ibuprofen, Naproxen etc after evaluating your problem..
However, both should be taken with a time gap and not together..

Once you can see your Physician you can consult your Physician and get yourself evaluated so that your treatment can be planned accordingly....
As of now you can also do alternate warm and cool compresses over the tongue for reducing numbness..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
