What Causes Objects To Appear Smaller After A Vitrectomy For Detached Retina?
Hello, I had a victrectomy about 8 weeks ago for a detach retina (macula was still attached). I had C3F8 gas and I just started to be able to see over the bubble about 1 week ago. It is still 45% of it s original size. Now that I can see just over the bubble - I am noticing two things: 1. Objects look smaller in that eye (lie they are compressed) 2. Straight lines are not straight but slightly wavy. Do you think these two conditions will improve with time? My retina specialist said the retina was completely flat - but my vision isn t ideal at this point. Thanks for any feedback.
As per my clinical experience, the status post surgery at a period of 8 weeks is due to half way healing status of internal structures in terms of area around macula and rest of the retinal portions from which the rays of image are reflected over the lens of eye. Hazziness and blurring is due to underlying retinal edema at this stage and this will improve over a period of time which varies person to person. So be in regular follow up consultation with your retina specialist and get best results ahead.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
