What Causes Occasional Impaired Thoughts And Confusion?

the symptom is when I close my eyes in prayer or in a group to think on a question in general, I am not sure if I fell asleep and was dreaming or did I zone out while still thinking about what was at hand? I am a 69 years old female in excellent health!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of sleep problems like disturbed night time sleep, hallucinations, memory problems, sleep apnea, etc which are early symptoms of Narcolepsy, a neurological disorder. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get tests (sleep records, PSG, MSLT) done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. Maintain healthy lifestyle, cut on caffeine, alcohol & nicotine. Your treatment will depend on your clinical condition & pathology detected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
