What Causes Occasional Sharp Pain In The Upper Right Abdomen After Gallbladder Removal Surgery?

I am 28 years old. I am 5 feet 7 inches tall and weigh 220#. I just had my gallbladder removed 9 days ago. I had my follow-up appointment a few days ago and everything looked good. I have only experienced some tenderness above the incision around my belly button. Today, I have a new pain in my upper right abdomen. This pain is a bit further to the right, whereas my gallbladder pain was more towards the center/upper right abdomen. This pain is quick and sharp and happens mostly when I inhale or randomly when I move around. The pain is not constant. It started gradually while I was at work and each jolt became more painful as the day went on. Any ideas of the cause? I've done a little research and came up with Pancreatitis. Is that a possibility? Also, is this a need for immediate medical attention considering it has not been that long since my gallbladder surgery?

Hi
Thanks for posting your query.

First of all I personally dont feel it as pancreatitis. Pancreatitis pain is more on the left side of abdomen and the pain increases on having food.
I feel you might be having infection around your liver or base of lung which is a post operative complication of gall bladder surgery.
I advise you to start taking antibiotics after consulting your surgeon. In case pain is severe get ultrasound abdomen pelvis done and meet your doctor.
If no fever or pain is not severe you can wait .
