Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been experiencing occasional shortness of breath. If I make myself yawn, I feel like I can get a full deep breath. It s been happening over the last several weeks. I walked 3 miles this morning, without any trouble. I recently had a blood workup and my cholesterol, ldl and hdl were all within range. I hate going to the doctor or er but will if I really need to...thoughts?
As per my clinical experience, the occasional shortness of breath seems to be in concern with underlying stress or anxiety if the cardiac and respiratory causes are ruled out by an expert physician or cardiologist. In my clinic, I do recommend primary work up with pulse, blood pressure, EKG for detailed evaluation of the reason and possible management. However , at this point of time, I can recommend you for undertaking deep breathing exercises, YOGA to feel better by your own without any medical attendance (for which you are reluctant if it is not an emergency).
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
