Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Occasional Throbbing Pain And Pressure Around The Left Ear Area?
Over the past 6 months I ve experienced occassional throbbing pain and pressure around the left ear area (above, below, and toward face; precise location varies with each occurence). It definitely does not feel like an inner ear infection and tugging on lobe doesn t affect pain. The pain is very sensitive to touch. Pain will come and go. Most days I do not experience the pain, but when it does occur, it definitely feels like something is wrong.
The issue responsible for throbbing pain and pressure around left ear area and sensitivity to touch is most likely related to trigeminal neuralgia and the same must be addressed to neurophysician for earliest (though slow) possible recovery. Medications as crarbamazepine, pregabalin are particularly helpful for such instances.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
