What Causes On And Off Abdominal Pain Below The Upper Pelvic Area?

Hi, I have intermittent pain in the abdominal area just below the upper pelvic area on the left side. When pressure is applied to this area the pain is severe. CTs have been performed along with a colonoscopy. Three polyps were removed from the lower colon not located in this area. Any idea what met be causing this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain off and on after polyp removal or colonoscopy is commonly due to bloating. However, it can be due to infection and it should be controlled urgently. Cramping and discomfort post procedure in sensitive patients may be due to the use of suction device or surgical instruments used to remove the polyp.

You can take antacids and PPI's one SOS when required to feel better. In case you are restless you are suggested to report to the treating doctor or the medical facility where you had your procedure done & arrange for a follow up clinical examination.

Your treatment will depend on your clinical condition and pathology detected. You will have to get blood and urinalysis along with required imaging tests done. In the meantime you are suggested to take spasmol, one SOS to get relieve from abdominal cramping.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
