What Causes Oozing Of Pus From The Wound On Leg?

I have about a 4 inch wound from getting hit in the leg by a spiked palmeto branch by accident and it hit me with full force, the wound has scabbed up which is good but my leg occasionally leakes pus from the top of the wound! Im not good with going to the doctors and working with punctures and needles and stuff, so is there any way i can kill the infection and get my leg back to normal? The only thing i do really is spray hydrogen peroxide on it to kill the germs! Please help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear user!
Thank you for your question on HCM!

Puss leaking from the wound indicates an infection of the wound.
I strongly recommend a consult with a surgeon to check the wound up.

You may need to drain the puss, and take antibiotics according to the grade of infection. Meanwhile you continue keeping a good hygiene of the wound, clean it regularly, and wash with hydrogen peroxide and povidone iodine.

Take care and all the best!
Best regards!
DR ERIOL.
