What Causes Open Wounds On The Body While Suffering From Diabetes?

My dermatologist gave me Kenalog 0.1% for a rash, and some open wounds that just popped up about 3 weeks ago. Am I able to put the cream on the wounds? They have never drained or bled, they are just deepening wounds with a white scabby looking top. I am diabetic and also have calciphylaxis, though have never had any wounds before.

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Based on the description, the wounds may indicate the presence of an infection of the skin.

This would require treatment with topical and/or oral antibiotics.

If they are severe, then oral antibiotics would be preferred.
It would be best, especially since you are a diabetic, to see your doctor for an assessment and treatment.

Kenalog is a steroid and may delay healing if applied to infected areas.

I hope this helps
