What Causes Orange Discoloration Around The Lips After Application Of Betadine?

i recently had surgery and they put betadine in my nose they said to prevent mrsa I got sick during surgery and after my husband said there was all orange around my lips I have not felt right since the surgery could it be from the betadine , it never happened before

Hello.

Usually we apply betadine as a protocol for sterilising the area upon which we operate. In this case it is your nose. Yes. Betadine is known to stain orange on the area on which it is painted. But it is very much unlikely to cause prolonged discomfort or staining of the area. Usually a spirit swab cleaning will remove the stain. Other than that betadine doesn't affect your body.

As to why you are not feeling normal, let your surgeon know on your next follow up. He might be able to give you proper guidance if it concerns the surgery.
