My son is 15. Started with welts on elbows, knees and scalp yesterday. Gave him Benedryl today twice. Now experiencing chest pain. Said he feels pressure on chest when he lays down. Better when sitting up. not sure if related to welts/hives from yesterday. Just finished 10 days of Omnicef on Friday for sinus infection. any ideas
Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of outbreak of welts on elbows, knees and scalp . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction , rheumatic fever , contact dermatitis , drug allergy or psoriatic arthritis. Need not to worry at all. I would suggest you to apply cold compresses to welts , avoid food like nuts and seafood , take over the counter antihistamine like benadryl . Consult general practitioner for proper examination . Doctor may give adrenaline shot along with immunosuppressants , anti inflammatory and may refer you to orthopedic surgeon for psoriatic arthritis .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
