What Causes Over Consumption Of Feeds In An Infant?
hi. our 3wk old daughter is consistently starting to eat 4-5 oz every hour. She s not spitting up or gassy. Insatiable appetite and we worry about overfeeding. she is BF and bottle fed. no where can we find info on a baby this small and this young eating this much. she is the youngest of 7 so we are not inexperienced in these matters, but hers is an extreme case. She was born at 5 lbs 4oz and now weighs 6lbs 11oz
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, if the baby is not having diarrhea, is not spitting and generally, weight gain is good with normal activity then continue feeding her.
Try to give her small feeds with frequently and try to give her feeds as per the demand of the baby only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
