What Causes Pain Above The Eyebrow After An Injury?
hello, so to at basketball practice i got elbowed in the top right side of my head (a little bit above the eyebrow) and it really hurt. it still really hurts and it has been about 2.5 hours since. it mostly hurts when i chew/bite down and open my mouth wide. any idea of what i have done?
I can understand your concern. It seems that you have got a concussion from the injury above the eyebrow.
It must be paining while chewing or opening the mouth wide as the masseter muscle which is activated during these movements is located near your injury site. If the area is not swollen and you are otherwise comfortable except the localized pain, you do not need emergency treatment and you can give it a few days to heal on its own.
I suggest that you should apply ice over the injured area and take Ibuprofen 400 mg three times a day for few days to have relief in pain.
However, if you develop swelling, fever, dizziness, confusion or other symptoms, a physician or oral & maxillofacial surgeon should be consulted for clinical examination and treatment.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
