What Causes Pain After Gallbladder Removal?

I had my gallbladder removed 2 months ago - I still had some pain so my dr sent me in for a CT scan , then a ultra sound which came back inconclusive. He has now sent me to have yet another CT scan as he said he needs to see the blood flow. can this be cancer?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The pain post operative case of cholecystectomy does indicate filmy adhesions or fibrosis related rather than cancer. It is best recommended to undertake an MRI or diagnostic laparoscopy provided adequate trial of anti spasmodic therapy and rest of the supportive care has been given. Guidelines till that time period:
- Prefer easily digestible food stuffs avoid all spices, non veg, junk food, dairy fat
- Avoid constipation and if required use bulk forming laxative as Ispaghula husk or Bran
- Avoid stress and anxiety
- Do consume anti-spasmodic medications liberally with proton pump inhibitor use
- Avoid smoking if active

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
