What Causes Pain Along With Swelling And Bruise In Nose?

My nose hurts , as if it has been bruised but I have had no injury. It began yesterday and besides being sore to touch , it is swollen and congested. I have been indoors in air conditioning and have dne nothing differently in terms of topical products.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

Thank you for reaching out to Health Care Magic.

The most common cause of the symptoms you have mentioned is usually nasal congestion or nasal turbinate hypertrophy. This happens when the nasal mucosa gets swollen due to cold weather, pollution, or dust.

This causes an inflammatory response which swells the mucosa. Alon with this, it is likely for one to have a runny nose, feeling of congestion.

Some things that may help include -
Drinking lots of water
Steam inhalation and taking warm showers
Using an over the counter nasal spray

This can help to reduce the swelling and symptoms to some extent. Please do discuss which nasal spray would be best with your pharmacist.

I hope this helps. All the best.
