What Causes Pain And Bleeding After Depo Shot?

Hi. I have been on depo shot for about a year now due to endometriosis and they were working for the most part in the beginning, but with the last 2 injections, i noticed that i start having pain after the 2nd month on the shot and along with the pain comes bleeding... I am scheduled to have a laparoscopy next week but i am concerned that he will not be able to see what the issue is because i am currently not in pain and i just had my injection last week. Should i postpone the procedure until i am having pain again? will the surgery do any good? will all the endo appear to be gone because i just had my injection?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite common with depo shot. It is due to hormonal changes and will settle by itself.

No definite treatment is required either.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gynecologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
