Hi my name is vicky. for a really long time now i have been having pain when i poop not from inside but from my anul area. its like a sharp pain and some times it bleeds its been happening for a while now and i am gettin really worried about it can you help me should i be worried thank you x
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. Your symptoms are most probably suggestive of fissure-in-ano as there is pain at the anal area and bleeding too. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Sitz bath in a tub with warm water. Laxatives. Anti-inflammatory medications. Tests of stool, urine and blood and get corrected anything that is found on these tests. Antibiotic, metronidazole and probiotics may help in some cases. Control of stress and anxiety. Avoid the foods and beverages that cause such a problem. Consult a General surgeon for per-rectal digital examination and colonoscopy. Anal dilatation or internal sphincterotomy may be needed if the medical management fails to heal the fissure.
