Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation Behind The Knee?
I have been having pain and burning behind my right knee on the right side. It s a pain that is difficult to describe. It feels like something bulging but I feel nothing and had someone look and they didn t see anything but when they pressed on that area it was very tender.
Noted your short and specific history about swelling, pain and tenderness on examination behind the right knee. Your symptoms are suggestive of a condition called Morant Backer's cyst. In this condition there is inflammation of knee joint, the cavity starts ballooning through a weak posterior wall to form a cyst behind the knee. This can be confirmed by MRI of the knee. Once confirmed you can go ahead with a proper open surgery or as the preference of your Orthopedic Surgeon. If there is any other problem then a possibility of other conditions will also be seen on MRI and treated accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
