What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation In The Sternum?

Hi, I have a pain in my sternum. (middle of my chest). It burns and feels like it is bubbling, making the back of my throat watery like I need to throw up. It feels like there is something stuck, but I know there isn t anything. It comes in waves, like every 15 secs. This has happened a few times within the last few weeks. Could this be acid reflux or indigestion? What should I do? Thank you, Melena

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to gastroesophageal reflux disease.

I suggest using antacids such as Maalox.

I also suggest PPI medicine such as Omeprazole.

I suggest using a plain diet and drink liquids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
